continues its rapid growth, the demand for increased communication
between our Quality and Product Development groups with our
entire worldwide Sales network was evident. Using ASP.NET,
this project was designed to accomplish three main objectives:
to reduce the bottleneck at Quality during the receipt, investigation
and issuance of Trouble Call Reports (TCR); to provide a means
to conveniently communicate product and procedure issues with
our outside sales force by providing them with an internet
tool to easily access a list of their TCR’s, status
updates on their TCR’s and give them the ability to
search and understand issues with other sales managers and/or
customers on related products; to provide a separate database
within the project to keep an electronic record of product
history concerning software, hardware, procedural and other
issues.
A systematic flow with discussions held at the beginning
and end of every defined stage was presented. The project
was easy to launch, first as a beta version, to test for functionality
and get feedback from our more frequent users. The final rollout
was smooth as all files were documented and installation procedures
were easy to understand. This has been a win-win project as
our Sales Managers are very happy with the level of communication
now available to them and I am pleased that this work was
done within budget and was kept on schedule until final delivery.
